Where worlds collide… James Blake “Retrograde”

James-Blake-Retrograde

There are lines we draw in music.  We need to put a tag to represent a sound to the public so they can relate and hit “ADD TO MY PLAYLIST” to feel more content within their little earbuds.  It becomes their world and no one else’s, but what if you couldn’t place the sounds in the realm of tagging?  This song “Retrograde” by electronic artist James Blake smothers down all conceptions of labeling music for the masses.  He covers plenty territory in this cut in just under four minutes.  It will melt your soul, and his album Overgrown ($10) delivers the goods.  Get off your ass and listen to a true blending of techno, folk, rock, and soul.  Brilliant!
