On November 20th, Square Enix will release the latest installment of the Hitman series titled Hitman Absolution ($60), unlike most first-person themed shooters, the Hitman series continues in the tradition of the bizarre, twisted, masochistic art of stealth assassination techniques by allowing your character to literally blend in to any scenario and choose from a fortitude of common objects that can be combined into a circumstantial deadly hit. And it’s all done in third person scenario.
I usually don’t spotlight video games, but I love to highlight the few game changers that really go out of their way and pay attention to all the subtleties that allow the player to truly immerse his or herself into the mind of the character they’re playing. From what I have seen so far, the latest Hitman game is a far cry from all the Grand Theft Auto mischief and Halo hooplah style erratic gunfire, so if you’re looking for that kind of fulfillment, then this game may not be for you. But, if you want to enter a scene, conspire to perform a brilliantly choreographed viscous assault in the form of a hit, and have the option of using whatever materials you can find, including disguises, then welcome to the dark and disturbing world of Hitman. Have fun stormin’ the castle!
