I know it seems a bit archaic at this point, but I am pretty sure that there are a handful of peeps out there that have a stack of personal VHS tapes stashed in that save-it-for-a-rainy-day-box to convert someday into digital format, and then, of course, there are those pervs that treasure those vintage 70’s pornos, so if you happen to  be one of these two creatures or both, you might be pretty interested in this VHS to DVD converter ($290) available at Hammacher Schlemmer.  It has a camera friendly DV input and a much needed HDMI output, and the conversion process is all done with the push of a button.  It also plays back jpegs, mp3s and a few other formats.  Technically, if you have an old six hour tape recorded in SLP mode, I assume it spans it over a few discs.
