The Audioquest Dragonfly USB DAC ($249) is a pocket sized USB dongle that much resembles a flash drive, but crack open the hood and it’s a serious dB boosting audio amp that can deliver up to 24/96 kHz audio quality, which is of course studio standard. The company claims that this amazing feat for its size is achieved through its unique 24-bit ESS Sabre™ conversion chip. The lit dragonfly on the device changes colors to indicate variable kHz audio settings ranging from 44.1kHz to 96kHz. Although a bit pricey, you will not find anything any more professional in its class and size for the asking price. If you are a digital DJ, this will NOT replace an audio interface because it is solely an audio output device, but if you want to hear your recordings or productions on a set of high end monitors or headsets, you may want to seriously weigh in on this.
