My friend turned me on to this a short while ago, and it IS a journey back into the days prior to Transit Cops and high rental apartments; when Hip-Hop was called Rap music.  It is titled NY77: The Coolest Year in Hell and it’s basically a time capsule on where the city was at during 1977:  the year of the urban renaissance of the greatest city in the world and its embrace of street culture and art. Where were you ???
